1) Is there a workout gym there?
2) Ive gone to the virtual tour site in their website, but the images dont work. why is that?
3) Of all that have applied to UMCP... what other colleges were you considering?
4) Do you get to select which dorm hall you want to go to? And how do they select your roomates?

They have several gyms. My D. said the gym she goes to there is state of the art. Incredibly nice. I will ask her for more details.

You do not get to select the dorm. They do have special dorms for different things. Like there are honors dorms, global communities, college park scholars live together etc. So if you are in one of those programs and applied for housing on time you will be assigned to one of those dorms. If you are not, then they will randomly assign you to a dorm.
Rommates are based on a few questions like: Do you smoke? Do you object to a roommate who smokes?(Smoking is not allowed in the dorms)
Are you neat and tidy? Do you like to go to bed early or stay up late?
Based on those questions they match you up. I know other colleges get more intense in the questions and really aim to make a good fit..but ultimately who knows if you will get along till you meet them ..UMD's method is just as good as any.

1) At the CRC (campus rec center), there is a very nice, high quality gym. It's as good, if not better than membership gyms, and is free to students for the most part.
2) Not sure.
3) Cornell, Drexel, RIT, UIUC (College of Engineering). I was rejected from Cornell, accepted and received about 75-80% in scholarships from Drexel and RIT, and was accepted into the UIUC College of Engineering for Computer Science. I'm a NYer, so I was out-of-state for Drexel, UIUC, and UMD.
4) You answer a few questions (like angstridden provided), and basically it's completely random. If you have special medical needs, you may be able to get into certain dorms, but if not, you have no way of requesting a specific dorm.

They told me kids with allergies etc will be placed in airconditioned dorms with doctors notes. Otherwise unless you are in a special program like honors its potluck.
