Questions about upper division science courses (bio, chem)

I found a lot of information about the pre-med classes at Duke, but not so much about upper division science courses that students take in their junior and senior years. I'm interested in taking more biology and chemistry courses beyond just the basic pre-med requirements. Can someone share their experiences with upper divs, especially if you were a biology or chemistry major? For instance:
1) How difficult is it to earn good grades in comparison with the premed "weeder" courses? How is the quality of instruction?
2) What upper biology and chemistry courses would you recommend and NOT recommend?
3) What professors in the science departments should I try to stay away from?
4) What professors in the science departments should I absolutely take a course from?
5) Anything else relevant?
Specific courses I have in mind are biochemistry, physical chemistry, animal physiology, and pretty much most of the biology classes that are numbered 202+. Thanks!
