Questions about UW?

Hi,I was wondering if any students from UW could answer some of my questions to help me make my decision!
Thanks for your help in advance!

  1. Are students friendly in Seattle?I’m from out of state and I’ve heard about the Seattle Freeze.
2)Is it hard to get into your major?I’m a pre-science major for now,but I want to be a biology major. Will it be difficult for me?
3)Does UW send a lot of students to med school?
  2. If I’m an introvert,will i have a hard time making friends?Especially since i’m out of state?
  3. Does it always rain in Seattle? If not,is the sky always grey/gloomy?
6)I’m currently debating between UCSD and UW.Which one do you prefer/think would be better.

Thank you!

I live in San Diego and have a couple friends at UCSD so I’ll help you out with that. UCSD is amazing academically, great place to go if you want to do premed. It is very, very competitive though, you’re competing with the guy sitting next to you and that can make people extremely anxious.

The party scene at UCSD is complete garbage. I went to a fraternity party a few weeks ago that consisted of about 12 guys sitting around playing Xbox. Socially a lot of the people here are a little awkward and timid. Does that mean there aren’t parties and aren’t a lot of cool people? Absolutely not. You’ll just have to search for them a bit more.

Campus is pretty cool. Nothing like UW which looks like a castle but is more concrete, definitely some cool architecture throughout the campus though.

I’m from Seattle, and I think people are generally pretty friendly. I guess I don’t have much else to compare to though. I’m also an introvert, but I think you will also be able to make friends since everyone is “new” even if they are from in state. As long as you try to get involved and don’t complete seclude yourself, I think you’ll be fine. You’ll fine your own group of friends eventually.
I don’t want to say it ALWAYS rains in Seattle. It definitely rains often, but I think most Seattleites are used to that. However, we do have a lot of non-rainy days and even a lot of sunny days. Seattle weather is one of my favorite things about UW!
