I am waitlisted at Emory and Virginia and both are my dream schools.

I researched about being waitlisted and people suggested to:
-E-mail and liase with the adcom
-Write a letter of interest, with any improvements in achievements etc.
-Talk to alumni or someone who can help you write another letter
-Teacher recommendation- same teacher or new teacher

In your opinion, is that too much to do all? I think I will just email the adcom, write a letter of interest and maybe talk to an alum. I want to show interest and I heard that the more times you communicate the more "stickers" there are on the folder and you move up the pile. But I want to get the timing right so if I update too fast, then I will be at the "bottom" of the pile come May 1. However, doing too much might be annoying and burden for the adcom reading my application again. So what is the right balance?

I called Emory and they gave me my adcom, but Virginia don't have specific regional adcoms, so the person on the phone just gave me a random adcom. Should I e-mail this random adcom about my interest and liase?

Also, Emory just sent me an e-mail about the latest time I could remain on their wait-list. What should I put for the date? Preferably I would like to know earlier, but if it increases my chances to put the last date, I don't mind waiting. What do you think?
