Questions about Welcome Week events

I read on the NYU website that you have to sign up for different events during Welcome Week. On the website a few of the programs are listed, and there are some I really want to attend.

My first question is, how quickly do spots fill up? I will be busy the day you can start signing up for Welcome Week events and I really want to make sure I get a spot in a few of them.

My next question is, when are the events typically scheduled? I have LSP orientation events to go to during Welcome Week and I'm nervous that will get in the way of me attending information sessions on clubs I really want to be a part of.

My last question is, can I see a complete list of the Welcome Week events before the day sign up starts? I cant seem to find anything about specific events (other than the fact there are 250 of them) and Iwould like to know in advance which ones I should try to get to.

Thanks!

I don’t know if we’ve confirmed ALL events. But yes, they will be online very soon. We’re still updating the website.

A majority of events are “first come, first serve”, where there’s no advance sign up. A lot of popular night events are like this. If there is an event you REALLY want, get there early. I was on a panel last year for “Academic Success in Freshmen Year” and not everyone was let in. For REALLY popular events, they will run it multiple times throughout the week.

ClubFest, the big club fair, is typically NOT during Welcome Week, it’s usually the first or second week of classes.

Welcome Week events have a day and a night component.

Day events: Tours around the neighborhood, academic events, panels, tours around Bobst/campus, and some other random events.

Night events: (5PM - 1am) Fun stuff, like karaoke, improv comedy, Drag Queen Bingo, Rocky Horror Picture Show, speed meeting, video game nights, dance classes, etc.

What for it’s worth, in the lobby of Kimmel Center, there will be a welcome table with WWL staffed there ALL DAY and they will answer any and all questions. That’s where I usually hang when I’m scheduled.

I suspect the WW site will change a lot in the next two weeks, so keep an eye on it!

Okay, thanks!

there are a few events that need to be signed up for. they are mainly the career oriented wasserman events (like the visit to NYU med school and to some of the business firms). once the full list comes out you can check on the wasserman site for signups. i remember i missed the med school trip my freshman year and so i signed up for the event my sophomore year welcome week and they let me go.

i also remember planning to go to a lot more events than i actually went to. a lot of the time hanging out or going to events together with people from your hall is a better way to spend time instead of having an intense schedule/plan that you’re rushing to carry out alone.
