i haven't been accepted to cornell yet (hum ecology, PAM, jr. applicant) but am really curious about the on-campus housing situation.

i think west campus would be best b/c it's the closest to to martha van rensselaer hall. does anyone know if hum ec majors have classes all over campus or just usually within the hum ec college?

what is the west campus housing system like?
are there many singles? (i really am unsure about having a roommate)
i've heard it's actually really transfer friendly, is this true?
are there major differences between the houses?

any answers to these questions and other feedback/advice would be great!

(background info...im a 23 year old female coming hopefully trans into cornell from a community college)

1) classes can be all over. mine are in MVR, warren, kennedy hall, and ives. all of the buildings are close to each other

2) it’s nice. all new buildings. each has a dining hall, library, study rooms, laundry room, lounges, computer room

3) yes, there are lots of singles. i’d go as far as saying most rooms are singles

4) yes

5) nope. becker has air conditioning in the rooms and the rest have fans, but that’s it really.

wow, I did not know Becker had AC! cool fact.

I agree with ironicallyunsure in terms of your questions.
also, keep in mind that west campus is about a 10 minute walk from Martha Van, so you’re still not that close. most housing is far enough away from that part of campus that it won’t make much of a difference one way or the other.

Risley and North Campus are probably closer to MVR, but you don’t want to live there.

There are a lot of transfers living on West so they tend to seek each other out and make their own little community.

haha yeah faustarp, i made sure to get a single in becker next year so i can avoid all this nasty humidity teehee. ac ftw
