so we have to email the professor before class begins? What do we need to say?

It’s in your best interest to email the professor as soon as possible. Say literally what you need. You’re interested in the class, but it’s full. Ask if you can add the class or if you can get some type of permission code. Basically it’s just a way to give the professor your name in case they want to add seats (sometimes they wont if class doesn’t have enough seats). They might reply telling you their procedure, but if they don’t…just go up to them on the first day and tell them you emailed them about joining the course.

@Neehee: 18 credits is not bad at all. Your schedule seems very manageable.

Ok, right now my plan is
Crown Core 80b
Chem 1a
Math 23a

If I’m confident in math and got a 5 on AP BC but am not very confident in chemistry, would this be too hard? How hard is Chem 1a because I really don’t want to take the lower chem then have to take this later. Um, also, is the core course hard at all because I’m kinda assuming with this schedule that it will be really easy and if not I’m definably not taking this

I’d say downgrade to 1P. Math 23A is pretty tough stuff even for the best. The 80B version of the Crown core course is more intensive than the 80A version. Students have to write a long research paper. 20 pages double spaced if I remember correctly. Of course this may have changed since last year.

Not that your current schedule would be impossible, no, no…but since first quarter is very much about socializing and getting to know people, settling in, and exploring, you already have plenty on your hands.

ok thanks. I’ll probably do that

What do you guys think about Japanese/Core/Chem 1A? Or should I take 1P? The seats in 1P is just about full, and I’m afraid I’m going to have to settle for 1A (which will be difficult for me because I took Chemistry years ago I hardly remember anything about it). Would it be manageable?

Manageable, yes. Japanese will be tough if you have no experience with the language. But my friend took it, and she’s told me that the teacher is incredibly nice about changing deadlines if you’re in a bind. Also, take the chemistry self-test if you have any doubts about which chem class you should be in.

has anyone taken music 11D before? how hard was the class? lots of hw? when i click on the class it says “This course has not been scheduled.” so what does that mean?

is it a good idea to take core class, math 11a or 11b, chem1P and music 11D? is it doable??
