Hey I had a couple of questions I hope someone could answer

What is Yale’s Core curriculum or classes that you have to take?

How hype is the International Studies program at Yale? (I know someone asked that before but no1 answered it)

What is New Haven like? (I’ve been getting alot of mixed opinions on that)
Thanks!

Yale does not have a core curriculum. There are distributional and major requirements that have to be met, but the distributional requirements can be filled with a variety of classes.

thanks edmYale09......i have no problem with New Haven being urban and all I just heard it was somewhat boring from some people

Check out www.infonewhaven.com and click on the "downtown guide", it gives you a sense of what's around. Note, even though that guide lists hundreds of restaurants and places to go within a few blocks of Yale, it's actually outdated - anyone who's visited lately would notice that a lot more have opened since it was published.

The area around Yale actually used to be a bit boring, many years ago, but literally hundreds and hundreds of new restaurants, shops, bars, clubs, theaters, etc., have moved in just in the past few years. It's now easily one of the best college towns in the country, and the 50,000 area college students flock there every weekend (Yale isn't even the biggest school in New Haven proper).

new haven has a bad rep but it is undeserved these days- i find new haven, especially the yale area, to be quite charming. there is plenty to do- cute shops and restaurants, fun bars and night clubs, first rate theater productions and concerts, museums, beaches, historical sites, and various festivals/fairs all year long.
