Hey Jaytal-- I actually lived in terraces in the Home program my freshman year. Honestly, all of the dorms at IC have their perks. I must say that living on campus was great. I never had issues with excessive noise, dirty bathrooms or drunken freshman. The rooms are all comparable in size and location. I believe all freshman will be required to live in Towers next year… but if you have the option, go for one of the Quads. They are more centrally located and I really liked them during my sophomore year. One thing is, think about what kind of person you are in terms of roomates. I lived in a single both years and it was the best decision of my life. I had no issues meeting people either because all you have to do is prop your door open the first week and people will stop by!

I am a junior starting to think about where I want to go in the fall of 2014, and this past weekend I visited Ithaca and fell in love with it. Some of the things I was wondering about were not covered on the tour. I am apart of a crew team at home and was wondering if you knew anything about the crew team. Do you know anything about the Hillel? Also, do you anythng about the first year experiance/ the programs that are a few days before other students get there? How easy is it to get scolarships/financial aid? And does ithaca accept scholarships from other companies? I know it is a lot of questions, sorry. Thanks!

also, do you know anything about the recreation management program?

Csolomon2–Glad you loved campus! Okay, here’s your answers: 1. I have a friend on crew–she LOVES it. They’ve gone to championships and it’s a great team environment. They’re a great part of the community. 2. Multiple friends in Hillel as well. They’re a really great group… they do a ton of events, help new students get situated into college life and they recognize all the holidays. Most of them are a very tight knit bunch and it’s a great way to meet friends. 3. I didn’t do the FYE because I did the HOME program, but my friends did and loved it. It’s a great way to, again, meet people and they have a ton of free food–something you’ll appreciate once you enter college. 4. Idk about financial need, but merit scholarships are plentiful if you have good grades. If you’re in the top __% of the application pool (it changes yearly) you automatic get some type of merit. The different schools have different scholarships as well. 85% of our students receive aid directly from the school. 5. Oh definitely. They take it all. 6. Never heard of it, sorry :(

How is the computer science program at Ithaca? What do people do on the weekend DAYS in the winter when it is too cold to go outside? What is something you don’t particularly like about the school?

hi, i live overseas and received a letter from Ithaca College just this week, informing me to be sure to create an account on myIthaca in order to get my decision. this letter was dated january 7th, but i received this around february 13th… so only now did i create my account. i don’t have an admissions decision on my account yet, even though a lot of students do. is this normal or did i miss my decision because i created my account so late?

I wouldn’t worry about that. They also send out letter decisions plus, any information would still be there once you created your account. Did you apply EA or RD?

@reeinaz sorry for the late reply! i’m RD.

IthacaGirl, you’re like Christmas come in March! So much great information! Do you mind sharing your reasons for deferring and if Ithaca encourages/discourages or is indifferent to deferring? I didn’t get into theatre BFA but was offered a chance to be considered for another department; I might need time to think!
