Ahh, thanks! And yeah, I’d probably be in Symphonia too for violin, but I’m much more advanced with piano. It is hard to play two instruments of different levels at Exeter? I’d need lessons and at least 2 hours of practice time for piano daily along with being in Symphonia-- would that work out well? Also, can you play piano for chamber?

Haha I fence too!

So for theatre, we did Lysistrata, which was amazingly fun. It was also amazingly inappropriate, which is why there were only 3 preps in it… Theatre is in place of a sport so you would do it during the sports period.

There’s a fencing team/club and we compete against other schools. I’ve sort of stopped going though because with everything else, it’s just not plausible to only practice once a week and it’s on sunday as well…

I know loads of people that play two instruments. No piano for chamber… And at least 2 hours of practice time is almost insane. Lessons are during your frees, and practice is whenever you have time (frees or after dinner). I, like you, was also very intense about piano, I started playing when I was 3 so it was a big part of my life. I’m still taking lessons, but I practice a lot less than when I used to. It’s hard to even get 50 minutes in a day because preps don’t have one format free like older students and with clubs and other ec’s that I do, it’s just not possible. I also played violin and sang, but I dropped violin and continued with voice lessons.

Aww, I guess Exeter really does teach you how to prioritize and everything.

And really?? Agh, that sucks. Do you have lots of ECs then? Cuz if I only had like, 2 clubs, would at least an hour of playing be okay?

What did the acceptance letter look like? Describe EVERYTHING I really want to know.

Yes… what did it feel like when you got it? How did you find out? Did you celebrate?

Well, clubs all meet on tuesday, so it should be fine, but symphonia is 6-8:15, so you probably won’t be able to get much practicing in when you have symphonia…

how many clubs could/can you join?

I was actually sort of disappointed because my best friend got waitlisted and later decided not to stay on the list. :(

Well the majority of them meet on tuesdays at 7, so it depends on how many places you can be at one time.

Can you summarize an Exeter student in three words? Asked this on the Andover thread…‘everyone is diverse’ is not an excuse , haha.

theres no way there are 3 words that describe every Exeter student, or even the majority of them except MAYBE studious. Even though everyone there is connected and work together, they are all still incredibly different people in so many ways.

gah, tuesdays! I was going to steal your idea and post it on this thread! well thats a lesson in plagiarism with ‘editing’ guys!

but please do answer the question we’ve all been waiting for. :)

400th post! :D

Three words? I don’t know if that’s even possible haha
Everyone here is so different and diverse in things that we do and how we act.
We study, we work, we procrastinate, we eat, we sleep (sometimes).
We’re crazy, we’re driven, we sing karaoke…
And in the words of istoleyournose! on another thread “we know how to have fun” :)

how do you think we procrastinators would fair at such a ‘rigorous’ school?

ahh lol, gracias senorita. and yeah, i totally second rad’s question

I guess you really have to prioritize your life.
You can procrastinate, or you can sleep.
You can procrastinate, or you can study for a test and do well on it.
On easier days, I find myself not using my time to its full potential, but when time is tight, I find myself OCD-scheduling my day.
However, I do think most people learn not to procrastinate to an extent. Maybe once you see what the consequences are to procrastinating, then you might not do it as much? :)

so i’m taking that as a not good, ay?

also taken as a we’ll get kicked into shape soon. O.o

Take that as a “someway, you will learn do be efficient, especially if you want to take on clubs, sports, arts, etc. in addition to school” :)

ie- we’ll get kicked into shape lol . but in a ‘good’ way.

how would you compare exeter’s workload to other schools’ ? I hear it has the most, is that true?

I can’t compare it to any other school other than my last school, but it’s actually not that bad.
You’re supposed to get anywhere between 45-75 minutes per night for each subject, but most times your work won’t take that long.
