If you're definitely taking 6c and 6bl, then drop bipn100. I also had French, and I spent A LOT of time studying for that class. I don't know how 6bl is now, but that class also took up a lot of time. For 143a (the first ochem lab) and Bibc 103 (biochem lab), I found were both better than 6bl. Haha...but 6bl wasn't as scary as rumored. It just takes a lot of time, but it's pretty easy. I've never taken the lign or anbi classes, so sorry, can't help you out there. For my upper div GE's, I've taken a few Psyc classes so far, and none of those could compare in workload and study time to the Bio classes. With two upper divs and two lower divs, you should be okay. Wait until after spring quarter starts to make your final decision.

I didn't hear of any singles in the apartments, but since my roommate always stayed over at her boyfriend's (I knew of this when deciding my roommate), I basically had a double room to myself. Haha. I believe all the layouts in the apartment bldgs are the same. It depends on location. I picked Goldberg, because it was a good distance from Canyon Vista and the shuttle stop. When you sign up for apartments, you will get several apartments as options. Then you can pick which one you want. For example, if you're a light sleeper, don't pick an apartment right by the street.

And thanks for helping out with posting pics!

This doesn’t pertain specifically to Warren, but I thought a current student would know something about admissions: I read somewhere that UCSD admits you through the school before they put you with one of the six colleges. Do they consider your major at all?

Hey Cali,
I am going to Warren as a Freshman for fall 2009 semester.
Can you tell me how the work opportunities are around Warren? I plan to work part-time while I go to school.

What do mean if they consider your major at all? I’m not quite sure I understand your question. When UCSD reviews your application, they consider the major to which you applied. I can’t see why you wouldn’t be accepted into your major of choice unless it is an impacted major and for some reason, the Engineering school or the Biology department doesn’t accept you.

I don’t recall any cases in which a student did not get their preferred college unless it’s due to space. However, there are Muir students that live in Warren for this reason. They follow Muir’s GE’s but just live in Warren.

If you want to work on -campus, there are plenty of work opportunities. Many of my friends worked in the dining hall first year since its near the residence halls; it’s about 12 hours/week, and from what I’ve seen, the scheduling is flexible. You can also work in the bookstore, library, Price Center eateries, Imprints, Co-ops, etc.

If you have means off campus, you can check out the Career Services Center when you arrive on-campus. There are also job fairs each quarter. Here’s the CSC website:
[Career Services Center](http://career.ucsd.edu/)
You can search for job listings through Port Triton. The CSC website will re-direct you to Port Triton.

Yes dorm and apartment residents get mailboxes. You may have to share with one other person. When you are expecting a package, there will be a slip of paper left in your mailbox directing you to the Warren Student Activities Center (SAC) or Mail Services building to pick up your package.

Mailboxes are located at the SAC or above Canyon Vista beside the Residential Office.

Mail Services is in Campus Services Complex next to P665.

The map is a little outdated (it doesn’t show the New Student Center or Price Center East), but I used that map often my first year to calculate walking distances between places.

Hey guys. I will continue checking this week just in case something like last year’s situation occurs again, but if you have any more questions, and I don’t respond for a long time, you can find me on FB

We have the 2nd or 3rd least GE’s, and while Warren Writing is graded pretty hard, it’s only 2 quarters long… so no, I wouldn’t have changed it.

Then again, I live in ERC, so maybe someone with Warren dorm gripes would switch out.

Also, anyone know anything about the honors program? I got in after my winter quarter GPA (winter admit).

I agree with StanEda224. Warren has pretty easy GE’s. Warren Writing is hard, but I still found the topics pretty interesting. The topics change though so… =P

I would not have applied for a different college. I have my Warrren pride. I enjoyed living there, and I liked the people I met.

also, i had a question about college transfers
apparently a friend of mine randomly listed the colleges in a random order, thus entering into revelle college. however he wants to transfer into warren
is it possible to transfer before the upcoming year?

and is it true that warren students are the least social? (this is just a rumor i heard :-D)

I also heard a rumor that most of students in Warren are engineering nerds and there are basically no girls in Warren. I hope that is not true! I take great pride the fact that I got accepted to Warren- biochem/chem!!!
