questions for cornell_pleaseplease help.

say, if i am interested in both IRL and human ec, which ones easier to get in? assuming that which ever i choose, i can express my interest well in the essay and why i chose cornell and everything.
Also, IRL only requires one sat subject test which is math, but i know that most of people who apply to cornell usually take like 2 or more subject tests so if I only have math subject test score as they require, would it hurt my chances?

my stats are below average for cornell. what worries me the most is my weak SAT score which is just over 2000. I dont expect cornell to accept me for ED as long as they dont reject me and then i can retake SAT 1, boost up my score to 2150+ on the december test and increase my chances for regular Decision. I only want to let them know that cornell is my first choice since i wouldnt be able to do that if i apply as RD.

What do you think I should do?
Please. I know there are so many of ppl out there with 10times better stats than I have, and i know its ridiculous that i insist on cornell with my below average stats but I will seriously blow up if i get rejected from cornell.

People! bumpity bump bumpb ump bup bupmin bum boom boom babe bump bmp it boo wooooooooo oPLEase ?!

ILR not IRL

if ILR (or hum ec) only requires 1 SAT II, you wont be penalized if you only take 1

no college at cornell is “easy” to get into. cornell is not a safety school. the school that is “easiest” to get into is the one you fit best with, based on your interests and future endeavors. it would be hard for me, as an architect, to justify why i want to go to the hotel school because i may think itll be “easier” to get into cornell that way. its not how it works

i think the worst state of mind you should have is already thinking you are not going to get in ED. the way you are sounding, however, is you are banking on being referred and not considering that you could be rejected as well. you could still get in with an SAT above 2000. think positively!

As an archtect, it would be hard for you to justify why you wnat to go to hotel school but I am interested in both Human Ec and ILR equally. I took all of the most challenging science courses at school tho they don’t offer aps however my ecs’ are more focused on stuff related to ILR. so for now, I am really undecided and interested in both the same. In that case, which one is known to be relatively less competitve? Again, I am interested in both colleges, and when Im equally interested in both, I just thought it would be wise to apply to the one that is less competitive. I know all the colleges within cornell are very hard to get in, but thought maybe the acceptance rate differs.
And, I know that there are chances for a rejection so thats why I am afraid to apply as ED. I dont know how much difference it will make if i bring up all my sat scores and all but at least i will have some confidence when I do so and apply as RD. But if I apply as an ED not quite so ready and get rejected, i wouldnt even have a chance at RD whether i get accepted or not for RD and thats why I can’t decide whether I should just apply as ED or prepare a little bit more just so that I can have some confidence and maybe a better chance? and apply as RD except the only bad thing about applying RD is that Cornell would not know that it has always been my first choice,

Thank you for your reply! I appreciate it  oh and i knew it was industrial and labor relations …haha my bad . :D

itll never hurt to apply ED. you dont need a 2400 to get into cornell. but that being said, like i wrote before, cornell is not a safety school and every single college is competitive. there is not any ranking of easiest–> hardest school. as a result, if you really want to do ILR, then do it! if your interests and ECs show a connection to ILR, then THAT is the school that is easiest for you to get into

I feel for you, I’m applying early to CAS and human eco as secondary choice. I too will flip if rejected. Not because I think I am the best and deserve to go there, I just love it beyond belief. CAS has more applicants than human eco and I heard is harder but I want to be a history major but still pre-med so I can do bio with human eco. I suggest looking at the stats of how many applied to each and the number accepted. Its not a guarnatee since the applicant pool for the two schools is different, but its the only solution I can think of. Good luck!

I am on the same boat! I have lower than Cornell’s average SAT score. I am going to send a 600 us history to ILR, HORRIBLE I know but I love Cornell. My aunts an alum hopefully her big donation will help. I wrote similar essays for both schools since Policy major and ILR will both get me into law. I really hope you get in! PM me if you do I want some hope for myself!

well put it bluntly, the 600 in a social science subject test is gonna hurt you, since ILR is a social science concentrated school…

but then again, nothing’s for sure. apply, and make sure your essays show interest (LOTS of interest) in law/politics/history/econ…etc etc etc

I got into CALS with a 550 in Math I and 650 in Chem (I blame my deplorable scores on a lack of sleep, haha). Granted, CALS doesn’t require SATII tests, only recommends them, but that just goes to show that SATII tests aren’t everything.
