questions for current students

Question: how does UCSD compare with UCLA/UCB in terms of academic rigor and med school preperation? Is it considerably easier to get good grades at UCSD than at UCLA/UCB? What's the most respectable science major on campus? What's the easiest/what do pre-med's usually take? How big are class sizes first year? When do students usually finish their GE reqs from their colleges (sophomore year? junior?) How relaxed is the atmosphere? How often can you find a party? How smart is the average student there?

I was accepted to Washington U. in St. Louis as well and am wondering which college would have the more fun, supportive, intellectual atmosphere. Of course I'm planning on going to Graduate school, so a higher GPA at UCSD is definitely appealing.

UCSD will be better for Bioengineering, but if you want to go the med route, I think Wash U will be better. The atmosphere here is definitely really relaxed and chill. You'll meet a lot of laid back yet smart people. Class sizes are smaller than LA and Cal in general. I believe LA and Cal just have one large lecture/teacher per course?(correct me if i'm wrong) We have many, even up to 5 teachers for a course like Gen Chem. I'd say the most respectable major is anything in the Bioengineering dept, and the easiest in the med field is Human Bio(even though you can be any major and go premed)

..um but don't go here if you're a heavy partier. there's not that many.

wow, higher GPA at UCSD!!!, depends on your major, if you want to get a high GPA in Physics, Math, ECE, Bio, CSE.., then play at your own risk lol

^Agreed, it is incredibly hard to get a high GPA here especially for science majors. UCSD is very rigorous.
