<li><p>I’ve seen the fees next to most of the film classes on the Dodge College website (ex: Intro to Visual Storytelling – Fee: $300). Are those the only ‘extra’ fees that you are required to pay for film production, excluding expenses for film sets/props/etc.? Like, does it cost anything to rent equipment or is there a charge to use certain parts of the facilities?</p></li>

<p>I would also like a current student to comment on these fees. I just calculated $4,625 for a film production major - just for core requirements. That doesn’t cover the electives, either. I understand that many Dodge majors are equipment/facilities intensive and that a religion major at Chapman shouldn’t underwrite a film major, but I feel that these extra costs were not disclosed properly, upfront, and I’m a bit miffed at the program for keeping this on the down-low!</p>
<p>Maybe students can find ways to minimize additional textbook expenses. Or maybe Dodge students should find jobs. :(</p>

<p>My son spent just under $1000 for books his freshman year.</p>
<p>There are ways to save money on books. You can check out the books at the bookstore and order the same ISBN numbers on ebay, amazon and other textbook stores online. Some books can be found used in the campus bookstore, as well. </p>
<p>Each major may have more costly books. Also you might be able to get them from other students who just finished the same class, as well.</p>
<p>My son spent about $400 each semester this year on books…he ordered from the book store for 1st semester so the books would be waiting when he arrived on campus (he is OOS)…for second semester he ordered off of various online textbook sites and had them shipped to his mailbox…he tried to save money for one book for second semester by borrowing a text book from a friend who took the course 1st sememster but it turned out to be the wrong edition and he had a few problems with that so make sure you order the correct edition…textbooks needed for each class eventually get posted on the bookstore web site…</p>
<p>As for fees, we didn’t realize upfront that so many film classes would have additional $75 - 300 fees but look at it as just something we have to pay…and several film classes have no textbooks so that helps…</p>
