Questions for Incoming Freshmen

My son is close to making his decision – May 1 is nearly here! – and it looks like he’ll choose BC. But he’s not quite ready to commit yet (and we can’t get any info through AGORA until he confirms enrollment), so I have some questions for anyone who has already enrolled for next year’s freshman class:

How much is the enrollment deposit (to reserve a space in the class)? I think I saw $250 somewhere on the website, but I can’t find that number now.

How much is the housing deposit? And is there any chance of getting some or all of it back if he cancels before Sept. 1? (He’s still on the wait list for another school.)

Is there a limit on the number of students that can attend each of the orientation sessions – i.e., have any of them filled up yet?

There is a $500 deposit. $250 for a place in the class and another $250 for guaranteed placing in a dorm room.

I dont think you can receive the deposit back after it has been submitted, but it will get subtracted from your tuition bill if you really decide to matriculate into BC. As mentioned above, the housing deposit is $250.

There is a limit on the number of people per orientation session. I have no way of knowing if any have filled up yet, but my guess so far is no.

Thanks for the info!

My s just put his deposits in and signed up for the June 29th orientation. We did receive an email stating that he was assigned to that orientation to confirm and somewhere I read that if you cancel by June 1st you get 50% of your deposit back. You also get charged for the orientation at some point which is a different fee.

Hmm, I didnt know that BC returned 50% of the deposit. BC charges you for orientation fees in the bill so it'll be more compact. I believe orientation cost $375 last year. I'm not sure if that has gone up.

Miragemage- do upperclassman have cars that they park in the area around campus? I know my son will eventually want his car there. I just can't see him happy with using the T and buses to get around.

upperclassmen do have cars, but it is rare for students to get parking permits. usually students in LSOE and CSON get preference on permits.
