Is overpopulation just a problem in SMC or is this the case with JCs in general? Are there any JCs you would recommend over SMC?

CCprison makes all valid points, but he fails to point out the positives of SMC.

Great campus
Great Location
Most classes-although a lot of people

I diagree about teachers, if u're smart, u can go to professor ranking sites and talk to people and get really easy teachers especially if u're doing non science major.

highschoolda- It's good to hear that SMC does have some great strengths

Is it possible to switch professors AFTER you have registered for classes...This has been bugging me for a while since I won't be one of the first few to choose courses.

yes, i do a lot of changes. Everything is done by the student online. There is no waiting lists, u have to monitor classes that are full, and find them when they open up, then add in.

Some also show up first day of class, then if someone does not show, u take their spot.

I got some good teachers by asking my friends who had eariler enrollment dates to save a spot for me, then they would drop the class and i would add in. But it does not work for math and eng.

u should be fine.

So it's possible to switch professors even if you'll be taking the same course you're switching out of? I'd figure SMC would have a policy against this so students don't bombard the good/easy teachers and leave the crap ones deserted right?

As for the enrollment date...what is considered early? By this I mean how many weeks/days before the start of the semester.. My enrollment date will most likely be around 2-3 weeks before the start of the fall semester..is that good or bad?
