Questions for Transfers to URoch...

Hey guys, I just have a few questions for those of you who have transferred to URoch in recent years or know someone who has…

How was the financial aid package?

I know transfer financial aid is usually not equivalent to freshman financial aid, and I was curious as to whether or not that would be the case at URoch as well. Additionally, if the transfer aid was bad the first year you transferred, was it on par with what other non-transfers who have been there since freshman year receive?

Were you given on-campus housing?

This is another thing that usually sucks for transfers from what I hear, I know a lot of smaller schools have a policy that makes it so that all students must live on campus, I don’t there there is such a policy at URoch, but I was curious if my chances of getting on-campus housing would be decent as a transfer.

What were your stats? i.e. College/High School GPA? SAT/ACT Scores? ECs?

I ask this because I’m not sure what my odds of getting accepted would be, mine are as follows:

HS: 3.3 (3.7 my senior year, about 3.1 freshman-junior)
College: 3.5 after one year at RIT
SAT/ACT: In HS my SAT scores was 1200 (old)/1790 (new)
I’ll be taking the ACT soon and I’m expecting to get about 29-31 (I’ve getting almost every question right on all of the practice tests I’ve been taking so I’m expecting to do fairly well).

I’ll also be applying as an Econ major if that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance for any help thrown my way

Hey, M also a Rochester-wanna-be. And i also plan to transfer to UR.

How was the financial aid package?
it offers 3000-10000 ducks a year for transfer students. Just check the website.

What were your stats? i.e. College/High School GPA? SAT/ACT Scores? ECs?
GPA is okay. IMO, if i do a better job next semester and push your GPA to abt 3.6 or 3.7, it'll be safer.

...but the $3,000 to $10,000 is merit aid correct? I was referring to need-based aid, even though I didn't specify, heh. Do you know if the need-based aid is equal to what incoming freshmen get? or at least close?

i think need-based aid for transfers would be much more limited than freshman.

Does the need-based get better after the initial transfer year? or does it stay at very little for the remaining years?
