Questions for UC to UC Berkeley Haas/Econ transfers

Hi, so I'm currently a freshman at UCSC and I really want to graduate from Haas or even graduate from Berkeley as an Econ major, and I was wondering if anyone successfully managed to transfer from whatever UC campus to Haas and how you pieced together your application/what steps you took in your first two years, etc.

At UCSC, I've already finished my calc & micro/macro requirements, and also the university's R1/R2(?) writing requirements, and am finishing up GEs. I currently hold a 3.94 GPA and am doing a lot of extracurriculars, but I want to know if that's even close to being enough. I currently have no idea what the applicant pool is like out there besides the stats that Haas posts on their websites.

Please tell me everything, I want to know!

Hey…I’m a sophomore at UCI trying to transfer to UCB Hass and Business Econ at UCLA for Fall 2010 quarter. I have a 3.93, some extra curriculars, and a lot of work experience…I called Haas and asked them how many UC-UC transfers they accepted for Fall '09 and they literally said “zero.” So I’m pretty sure I have very low chances for that…A word to the wise on transferring to Berkeley: choose Econ major! For me I’m in the Business Econ major at UCI so I have to go out of the way to take a couple classes that Haas requires like an extra English course and an intro to business course. At this point I’m counting on UCLA and I think you should keep it as an option…Here is the website for Haas’s requirements if you don’t know it already:
[Transfer Eligibility, Undergraduate Program - Haas School of Business, University of California Berkeley](http://www.haas.berkeley.edu/Undergrad/transfer_eligibility.html)

Hope that helps…Good Luck!

Like I said…I don’t expect to get into Berkeley even though I have great stats…but UCLA is a fair shot, which is why I recommended the OP keep it as an option…UCLA UC-UC transfer rates are REAL and listed on their website.

[Profile of Transfers from other UCs - 09 Fall - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/prospect/Adm_tr/Tr_Prof09_UC.htm)

I remember reading the stats for the admitted class of 2008 before berkeley took down the stats by major site they had.

There were 92 people accepted to Hass , and 90 of them were from CCC.

so essentially you have .01% chance.

Couldn’t those 2 students be out of state or international though? Or did you just use statfinder for just CA?

@ unknownpleasures
thanks for the hope…assuming that those 2 that weren’t from CCCs were from UCs and not out-of-state/CSUs/international hahah…

But yeah I asked Haas twice just to reassure myself…I even asked 2 different representatives over the phone exactly how many UC-UC students were accepted for Fall '09 and they both said “zero.” So it was basically a waste of $60 for the application.

Thanks for the responses, actually really helpful.
So I’ve got further inquiries, if that’s possible.

Would it then be easier to go back to CC first? I mean, I’m currently on a full scholarship but there are many pros for me going home. Has anyone thought about this themselves and decided that the slight increase in chance was worth the move back? I mean, they take over 1000 apps and only 90 get in – did anyone think that was worth it?

Also, I remember applying to Cal from high school and they gave two choices for majors in case people wanted to apply to both SoE and College of Letters and Arts, etc. Is that still possible? Can I apply to be a Business major and an Econ one too?

Haas is awesome because they don’t accept greedy 4-year transfers who already have a school to attend.

You’re welcome to take my place at my UC; can’t help it if I worked harder than you did to get my GPA. That’s what Haas should take into consideration, not whether I have a school to attend already or not.

I guess there will always be injustice in this world.

injustice to take the students who have nowhere else to go?? and how can one judge whether you really did work harder? and you could have considered this before deciding to go to your UC, as many people actually choose a community college over UC’s and in my case, also over Tufts

@OP you sir…are an a$$
