So I am a freshman at another college, and to be honest I never thought about Bryn Mawr in high school, so I have never applied before. I do have a few friends that go there and love it, so I checked out the school and fell in love.

The supplement essay asks why do I want to go to BMC, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions about good topics to touch on? Of course, I will cover the basics of the greatness of a liberal arts education and empowering women and all of that, but I was wondering if anyone knew what admissions would be interested in reading about.

Julierossi, why don’t you tell them what you loved about Bryn Mawr when you visited? Be specific. What kind of people did you meet? How did they treat you, and how did they treat one another? Also, you might want to talk about the honor code and how you saw it (if you did) in the culture…

Hey! I transferred to Bryn Mawr in the fall of 2011. I am not sure what made my application stand out, but I would stalk the Bryn Mawr website and make sure you find all the programs you would like to get involved in if you were to be accepted. Take a look at the praxis programs offered with many courses, opportunities within your major (if you are decided), etc. Make sure you sell your academic curiosity and how you plan on applying what you learn at Bryn Mawr once you graduate. I would mention how BMC would help you start your future and what tools they offer that you do not already have at your current school. Remember that BMC wants intellectual women who want to make a positive difference in the world (whether the difference is large or small). If you are able and good at being interviewed it could really help you, but if you are not then it could hurt you. I would also send an email to admissions with any questions you may have because it shows your interest (make sure those questions could not be found on the website!). Good luck with everything! I hope you hear good news.
