Questions from a prospective freshman

Hello, I plan to enroll at Vassar this fall and there are several questions I have.
1. How do I pay my housing deposit? I know this is a silly question, but I'm not sure if I should just send it along with my enrollment deposit and label it "housing deposit." But I do know that I am supposed to pay it before May 1st, so I'm a bit worried about cutting too close to the deadline.
2. Do we get to choose our roommates and House? I've been thinking about the Noyes House.
3. Is dorm more expensive at one House than another?
4. Are there any other deposits or fees I should worry about paying before May 1st?
5. How will I pay my tuition at Vassar? Will it be once a year, once a semester, or once a month?
Thank you in advance for your help.

As a parent, who pays most of these fees…alas, I can tell you that the deposit has traditionally gone towards your housing. I assure you they will bill you for the tuition and additional room and board. You do not get to choose housing and each house is the same board fee (expect townhouses and such which you would not be eligible for). They do an amazing job “sorting” you into the correct house and roommate assignment. Noyes is a great house (my son’s), it is off the main quad and is the smallest. Each house is so unique and I would guarantee you (and I mean it!) you will LOVE wherever you end up. You establish a payment plan or pay tuition at the start of each semester (which is what I do). All questions of this type can be answered by calling the college. Check the web site for the number, they are very helpful. Vassar has been the best decision my son ever made…trust me you are in for an amazing year1
