I am accepted to the class of 2016. However, I know that it is an extremely quiet place. So I wonder if there are some exchange opportunities for us to experience something different? Can any "insider" help me? Thanks!!

What do you mean by quiet? Compared to NYC? There is a lot to do at Cornell all the time! Some quiet, some not. Not sure what younare looking for, can you be more specific?

i WISH it were quiet.

Cornell is probably the only uni in the world where we make dragons fight eagles then burn them… idk if you consider that quiet or not but it’s pretty epic to me.

Well, the dragon fights the phoenix and neither of them get burned anymore, but…

There is plenty to do in Ithaca if you look for it and while most of Ithaca is quiet, collegetown isn’t (case in point: my neighbor’s party ended at 3:30 Friday morning, <3 hours before I had to wake up, I hate my neighbors).
There are lots of opportunities for study abroad. How feasible they are depends on your college and major, but if you know from the start you’d like to study abroad, your schedule can be arranged accordingly (for example, may students take more of their major classes in Ithaca and reserve some humanities requirements for study abroad).

It’s not really quiet at all, lol. And there’s a ton to do nature wise - hiking, walking the waterfall paths of Buttermilk Falls, etc. Collegetown is a great college town - it’s nice to walk around and know 95%+ of the people on the (very busy) streets are fellow college students - it gives it a really cool vibe. If you want to get out of Ithaca occasionally for bigger cities, there are programs like Cornell in Washington, and the study abroad department is very robust with tons of opportunity (they literally have thousands of study abroad options, and if you receive any financial aid they’ll just transfer it over to the other institution, even paying for your airfare, meals, etc).
