<p>It’s not some admissions groups in the UK which look at scores rather than the “whole applicant”, it is all of them. To which some universities might add interviews or further tests but still with the aim of informing them of that candidate’s aptitude for the subject they have applied for. This is because UK admissions are decided by subject departments or tutors, not by the university as a whole. And this in turn is because study at a UK university is all about the subject you apply for. So it is fundamentally tied in to the way UK higher education works. </p>

<p>Really if you think this approach is “ridiculous” or “completely foolish” I would suggest you don’t even think of applying to a UK university.</p>
