Questions on Aerospace engineering

My goal is to eventually work directly, or indierectly for the US military. I would like to do R&D for weapons, air craft and other such things.

I would like to know what majors/minors I should take for this? Also any colleges you would reccomend for those majors. A reply would be greatly appreciated.

Most engineering degrees have some applications.

Aeronautical, mechanical, and electrical are probably most applicable to aircraft design.

Chemical, electrical, or computer engineering would be appropriate for weapons design (and aero/mech).

Embry-Riddle, MIT, Cal-tech, Rose Hullman (sp?) would be good choices. Any of the service academies, could get you into that field (although more as a project manager, in most cases). If you went the Service Academy route, I would suggest either USAFA or USNA, as they tend to be more technical than the Army (in the R&D of complex weapons systems).

just a FYI, US citizenship will be required.
