My S18 is trying to fill out his Common App.
For “Current or most recent year courses” under Education section on Common App, it says “Please list all courses you are taking this academic year. If you are not currently enrolled, please list courses from your most recent academic year.”
Since S is an incoming senior, I am not sure what “current” year refers to. Is it Junior year or Senior year? S has already enrolled in 7 courses for his senior year albeit the school has not yet started (1st day of senior year is 9/5/2017). Since the transcript will cover up to Junior year, I would think senior courses information is more important to specify here, but I am not positive.
Sorry for the dumb questions!
You are correct - the transcript will show all courses through junior year, so what they are asking for are senior-year courses.
Don’t worry about if any of his planned courses end up changing. It is common, especially with spring semester courses…he should just indicate his senior-year courses as best he can based on what he knows at the time he submits the app. He can always provide a simple email update to Admissions later if something changes, and they will add it to his app file.
As soon as school is out in the spring/summer, students are considered to be the next grade level…so your S is CURRENTLY a senior. This is useful for indicating which summer activities took place as well, as the summer PRIOR to the actual academic year is that year’s summer - so this summer is Summer 12 for your S.
@WhataProcess This is so helpful! Thanks very much!
