Questions on DEADLINE, Supplement Essay

1) The website says it is "encouraged" to submit all materials by Dec. 15. How important is this; would it really make a difference if I submitted my app nearer to Jan. 1?

I thought that maybe the Dec. 15 encouraged date was to make processing apps easier and facilitate arranging interviews...in which case do you think it would be fine if I submit my Common App before the 15th, but wait to send my supplement?

2) For the 'choose your own quote' prompt:
So long as the quote is from an essay or book, how serious/meaningful do you think it needs to be? I want to consider using a more lighthearted/funny quote, but the other two quotes (Wilson, West) are very serious. On that note, is the entire essay meant to be more serious as a whole do you think? Or do they not care?

Any and all advice is very much appreciated!

1) call them
2) whatever: be yourself

they encouraged dec 15th to stagger the apps they get. they don’t want to get thousands on jan. 1st

Does “by the 15th” mean I can submit it tomorrow? I know it’s not a huge deal but I have my transcript and counselor stuff being sent out tomorrow and I figured I could go home and finish up the common app on the website after school.

as long its before the final deadline of dec 31st!

oops, i meant jan 1st!
