I have a friend whose sister has been accepted to several schools and wailtlisted at two others. She is considering taking a gap year and spending her time working out of the country. If she does the gap year, can she get deferrals from more than one of her admitted schools and what happens to her wait list status at the other schools?

Does anybody know the answer to this?

It may depend on the school. Some colleges require that if you defer your admission that you guarantee that you'll attend that college after the deferral, and you won't apply to other colleges.

yea there isn't a deferral at multiple places, they will only defer you if you have submitted your deposit and followed their lil process for deferment.

Your friend has to check that out at her schools. I was waitlisted at Brown, and the FAQ that they sent along specifically said that enrolled students off the waitlist cannot defer admission (the reason being that they are trying to fill beds now).
