1) Do many people talk to people online and find the roommate they want? or does the school do a good job matching people up?

2) Should I get a single/double/triple/or sweets? What are advantages and disadvantages?

3) I plan on going into Jester as a freshman. How close is it to the gym (workout), the library, and classes?
Regarding the distance to the classes, I will be a student of the Cockrell College of Engineering. How close is it to the engineering buildings? Or does that even matter? I mean, I'll only be a freshman.

Am I too late to select the dorm I want (Jester)?

Would It be hard for me to get Jester since I haven’t paid?

Also, what are some of the differences between Jester East and Jester
West?

What are adv and disadv?

Lastly, what are the options for your bathrooms? It’s not like the whole hall shares one giant shower room or anything right?
There’s one for every (or every two) room right?
What are the options and how muc do the costs differ?

Can I choose my dorm first (to make sure I get Jester), pay, and THEN get a roommate?
I mean, I might find a person I want at the orientation, which will take place in summer.
Or do i have to notify the school of my roommate preference as i tell them what dorm I want?

I’m interested in this too. I’m coming down to UT (well, probably) as an OOS student, so I’m just a bit apprehensive about having a random roommate. Does UT match students based on a profile or anything? I know that UT has a roommate search feature where you can search other users based on similarities in sleeping time, studying time, etc. but does UT use something similar if you don’t find a roommate online?

To clarify, if I don’t use the profiler to find a roommate online, will UT use something similar to match me up with someone (some sort of questionnaire, or is it random)?

If you want to live on campus, you should do your deposit fairly soon. Living on campus is in high demand, and you don’t wanna get stuck living with 5 other kids in a random study lounge (yeah… it happens). But, if you want to live in Jester you shouldn’t have a problem. It houses 3000 students, so you can probably get a spot. Jester is right across the street from the gym and pcl (the library), and the engineering school is probably a 10 minute walk down the street.

Rasnavely,
Thank you very much.
So, isnt Jester also on Campus?
And yes. As soon as i find a desirabld roommate, ill make a deposit.
When i pay the deposit, i should also know what dorm and roommate i want, right?
