Questions on EC List

I play clarinet, and each year audition for and participate in several regional honors bands. How should I list this? “Playing clarinet” under activity, and then listing the honors ensembles in the awards in the last column?

Should I include private lessons, private practice, and school band rehearsals in the total hours for this “activity”? Is that expected, or will they just assume that I spent additional hours playing on my own time. This is probably 10 hours/week if I have nothing else going on…honors bands rehearsals will add as many as 30 hours/week, but only for three or four weeks each year. I’m listing things like jazz band, marching band, and pit orchestra separately so they’re not an issue here.

Should I just attach a more detailed extra sheet? How much do I need to explain this - should I explain the difference in size between district, area, and region, or will they not care that much?

For Girl Scouts - should I bother to mention that I’ve been a Girl Scout for 12 years and received my Silver Award (which I did in 8th grade, though some people do it in HS). Do they want to know what my Gold Award project actually is, or just that I have the award?

I take language classes at a language school on Saturdays. Where should I mention this on my application. Is it an “activity?” Can I write about it for my “most meaningful activity” essay? Can I list it under “other secondary schools I have attended”? It isn’t my full-time school, but it is an academic school.

I hope someone has some advice. Thanks in advance.

bump......

The only thing I know is definitely mention Girl Scouts. That is commendable.

It looks like you're having a problem on how to define an extracurricular activity. For me, an extracurricular activity is anything you do outside of school that does not have an absolute connection with school. By that definition, anything from a language course to clubs at school fall into the category of extracurricular activity.
Your focused passions are appropriate and respectable (especially the Girl Scouts for 12 years).

...bump...

I'm interested in hearing the answers to these. I've begun working on my activity list (modeled after the one in Acing the College Application), and I'm hitting some trouble with it too.
Taking this opportunity to ask a question of my own...
On the application, do you put "See attached list" (and leave that part of the application blank), or do you fill out the EC chart the college provides and then put "See attached"?

Ah, scee3, that's what I've decided to do - I've formatted a table as "Acing the College Application" recommends. I can explain everything in the detail I feel is necessary and I think I'm going to leave it at that. I'm filling out the EC chart on the actual application too though.
