questions on honors program

i'm thinking of applying to gw's honors program but im kind of confused as to how it works. i went on the website and i couldn't really get a feel for it. do honors students take only honors courses, or regular ones too? and do they live with only honors students or are they mixed with everyone?

basically, what distinguishes someone in the honors program from those who aren't?

There are four required Honors courses, both year-long, two in your freshman year and two in your sophomore year. Other than those, you take regular courses (though you do have the option of taking more honors courses). There's also a one-semester required course senior year. You can live in honors housing, with other honors students, but you don't have to.

I really wasn't a fan of all the required courses, but the one thing I really like about the honors program is the advising (if you're in CCAS). The honors advisors are very good and very accessible, unlike in the rest of the school. Also, you get priority registration, which is really nice when you're a freshman or sophomore.

So you're in the honors program? What were the stats that got you in? I want to apply but im afraid my sat is too low... I have a great GPA and awesome ECs though...

Well right now I'm a sophomore, but in 07 I got in with a 2100 SAT (1430 M+V) and 4.0 unweighted. I think they look at the essay a lot though, because a friend had a higher SAT and the same GPA and got wait-listed. It doesn't hurt to apply even if you don't think you'll get in; what's the worst that can happen?
