Questions on last classes before transfer to CSU

Hello! I’m applying this year for transfer to CPP and SDSU (bio/zoology major) but I’m a little confused on the remaining classes I can/should take.
My CC counselor said I needed to take ALL of the classes listed on assist.org before I can be considered, but I just met with a transfer adviser and he said I could take whatever I wanted, as long as I’m at 60 units and have all general education requirements completed.
Originally following my counselor’s advice, I have classes from assist.org (organic chemistry, microbiology, calculus, physics, etc.) lined up, but now it seems I can take any non-science/math classes for the rest of my time at CC and it won’t have any effect on my chances of admission.
Can someone please provide some insight into this? Will I be a more desirable applicant if I do finish all the courses that assist.org shows or does it really not make a difference?

Thank you!

If you have the Golden Four and all required major prep courses finished by Spring 2017 as listed by assist.org, then you should be fine. Having as many of the courses finished that are listed in assist.org is desirable, but not always doable.
One FYI: SDSU is super competitive for non-local applicants, so unless you take the majority of units at a local SD CCC, you will be fighting an uphill battle in getting an acceptance.

Good Luck.
