Questions on Majors at MIT

Yah i was wondering if anyone knew whether or not MITs BME(biomedical engineering) program is any good? I really want to know because this is my preferable major and i am interested in knowing other TOP TIER schools that have a great BME program.

Im considering MIT, Johns Hopkins, Stanford, Northwestern, Berkeley, UPenn,

You can look up graduate school rankings for BME. I don't know where MIT is on the list. When selecting schools try to look for schools that will in general make you competent at engineering, etc. Undergraduate is the time to nail your fundamentals, and once you have those you can move on to wherever you want.

PS: If you are thinking to go premed, then I don't know if MIT is the best idea...

Biomedical engineering is a really interdisciplinary field, so the ranking of the biomedical engineering major is not really that important. There are many different kinds of biomedical engineers, and generally they couldn't switch places with each other. A lot of people who are interested in biomedical engineering double major in Chem E and Bio or electrical engineering and bio. People work in medical imaging generally are CS majors who don't have any bio training at all.

The major at MIT is biological engineering, not biomedical. Biomedical is a minor.

bump…Sorry for digging up this old thread…

How does Biological Engg at MIT compare with BME at JHU? Is there a massive difference in the courses btw Biological and Biomedical Engineering??

Thanx for ur time…

bump…

Anybody…I am completely confused…

I doubt any people who attend JHU are on this board. You realize you can look up the courses yourself, right? Here’s a head start.
