Questions on Sending out "the 2 notifications" (Please answer before tonight!!!)

Hi

I know some people may say it doesn't matter, but I just want to choose the better option.

Basically I didn't do really well on PSAT. I got a 203 (I know I will only be commended), which is pretty low compared to my actual SAT score (I took once and got a 2140, which I am not satisfied and am working really hard and retaking it, hoping for a 2300+. Please assume I can get a 2300+). Will sending the 203 to my dream colleges like Cornell or Northwestern or UChicago hurt my chances?

Somehow my college counselor mentioned that this is only for private colleges. Is sending it to UCs (UC Berkerley/LA) has absolutely no use at all?

Which colleges (do not mean top like harvard and low like community college) care relatively more about this?

Thank you very much! I appreciate your help!

Kenny: Don’t stress about it. Basically, it is a way of showing interest in a school. It will not hurt your chances for admissions. The only school that may care about your score are the schools that actually offer scholarships to National Merit students and work hard to recruit them. Many school, such as the Ivy League ones, don’t even give any scholarships money to NM. Check out the thread that lists the best schools for NM scholarship $; if you are interested in any of them, send them as your two choices.
