Theme dorms are identical to regular dorms in size and furnishing right?

Theme dorms are lot easier to get if your going to probably be FPF right?

Berkeley people realize Indians are Asians right? (I’m thinking about the Asian-Pacific house)

:/ Do you really want to be surrounded by people just like you? Hell, you're already at a school that's mostly Asian.

Theme Programs are in regular dorms. For instance, the Asian Theme Program is in Unit 3, it occupies a few floors I believe. So yes, they get the same dorm rooms and furnishing s that anyone else living in Unit 3 would have.

I don't know

Yes, I believe there a number of Indians in the program.

(I personally think Karch has a point. Berkeley is 50% Asian already; practically every dorm is already an Asian-Pacific hous on its own.)

hahaha that's troo ^^

sweetdreams87:

Just a minor correction: it's one floor in Unit 3 :). The third floor of Beverly Cleary, to be precise.

I always heard theme housing has more applicants than regular housing... I know that is true for Freeborn.

I'm curious about something offered me from the Natural Resources college that sounds intriguing -- the global environment themed dorm in Foothill. Now I was thinking I'd rather be much closer on campus in the units, after my friend (who lived in Foothill) said if she had to do it over again, she'd live in the units so she wouldn't have to walk so far. But this seems pretty cool -- anyone know anything about it?

i've never even heard of it, must be new. foothill's not that far from everything, it's just that its uphill, and way quieter than anywhere else, since the suite style living takes away from the classic "floor" set up that people think of dorms like.
but there's still plenty of partying and socializing, especially since RA's don't really do anything there.

Yes, Indians are definitely Asian.

Why would you even ask such a question? lol

There are unintelligent people out there who think that "Asian" only refers to East Asia and Southeast Asia

I say that sometimes too, but really it's an arsehole-ish thing to point out. Colloquially, Asian means oriental. It's really a technicality to count Indian as Asian, just because India is on that continent.

And does it really matter if Asian technically means Indian? I don't think they would reject you even if you were white. It's themed housing for anyone who wants to celebrate Asian-Pacific culture and heritage.

Its because most Asians in America are from the Sinosphere (East Asia, Vietnam, Singapore). The minority are from the Indosphere (South Asia, Southeast Asia minus Vietnam, occassionally Tibet). For Indians, the other group is not only physically different but culturally different.

My S was in the global environment theme house when he was a freshman. His experience was ok, not great. That was a few years ago, and like all dorm experiences, it is the luck-of-the-draw.

In Britain, "Asian" refers to South Asians (Indians, Pakistanis, Bangledeshis).
