Hi, I’m sorry if this has been posted before.
I currently have a 1470 SAT score and I read on their website that a 1480 is the minimum to be considered for a scholarship. I’m also taking the SAT again next week (Oct. 7th). At the time I sent in my 1470 score with my application, I didn’t know that a 1480 was the minimum. Would it be possible to send in my October SAT score if I already applied? I know UPitt is rolling admissions so I’m guessing I can’t, but I thought it was worth asking.
Another question I have is that do I put all the dates I took the SAT test, even if the second time doesn’t help with superscoring/isn’t a higher test score? Also, I didn’t put anything in for the middle school coursework, even though I took some courses that are also offered at the high school. (But I didn’t get credit for them.) I’m thinking I don’t, right?
I also took a summer course as a rising junior and it was just a pass/fail class. I put P as the grade and the semester/term as ‘summer school’. Would this be correct?
I would ask my counselor these questions, but I have the feeling she’s getting annoyed at all the questions I have.
Thank you!
Hello, @EmZoWe!
We don’t have minimums for scholarships, the guidelines listed on our website are just to give you an idea about the qualifications our past scholarship recipients have possessed. Our review is holistic, but it is highly competitive.
You are welcome to send in additional scores - please just email oafa@pitt.edu and let us know that they are coming. You are not required to send us every test you took, but we are test friendly and do superscore the SAT.
If you took high school level classes in middle school, we do ask that you report that on the SRAR. If you need to make an amendment to your SRAR or would like to speak to one of our staff about whether or not you should report a specific class (or whether you reported it correctly), please contact our office: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu. We will be happy to assist you.
Our office hours are M-F 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST.
Best,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer
@EmZoWe I would contact your admissions counselor for Pitt and discuss with them. But I do believe you can send in your updated scores once you have them and those can be used for consideration for Merit. Also I think they will look at you wholistically so while your score is just below the threshold of last years scores for merit, there will be other things to consider such as class rank, GPA, ECs and those short answer questions. But definitely send scores, your chances for them to go up with super scoring is VERY good! Just for reference, Pitt will not be reviewing for merit until late October as per admissions comment to me; so you have time!
My daughter did not put her middle school grades for some of the HS level coures she took…I think they only want to see reporting from your High School transcript.
My daughter also took a summer course like you’re describing and that sounds like how she handled it.
@EmZoWe good infomation from Pitt admissions. Good to know about the middle school classes, will discuss with my daughter!
