I want to visit NU before I actually attend the school and I was wondering how this whole visiting thing works (I have never visited a college). On the website I see that I can request for an overnight visit with a current student so I'll probably do that. But the website doesn't really elaborate in detail and I'm still confused as to what we're actually gonna be doing. Can anyone walk me through this whole visiting thing?
Also, I was hoping to visit during the weekend but I can only request for an overnight visit on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday. Is visiting on weekends at all possible?
Thanks.

Well, you’ll probably take a tour of campus, but other than that what you do is up to your host and you. If there’s anything you want to do, they can probably accommodate that. My friend hosted a student and it sounded like it didn’t have much strict, laid out stuff to do. You can visit on the weekend, but there are only tours on saturday once a month (I believe), so friday is your next best option. You won’t get much of a feel for the actual school, though, if you don’t visit during a weekday, and school is a major part of college.

Overnight visits don’t really happen over the weekend, as far as I recall. Probably trying to avoid hospital trips for the high schoolers.

An overnight visit:

Step 1: Get picked up by your host.
Step 2: Do whatever the host decides you two should do (you should probably speak up if there’s something you want to do).
Step 3: ???
Step 4: Profit.
