questions questions questions

Ok so I have a few questions regarding Case. Im strongly considering attending next year as an engineering student and I've been fortunate enough to have received the $17.5k per yr scholarship as well as an $8k grant.

My first question is, if I do two of the seven month co-ops will my scholarship still be available for my fifth year? I don't think im technically a Case student while doing a coop, so maybe the scholarship wont get " used up" while im not taking classes?

Secondly, if I want a coed floor for my freshman year will i definetely be able to get one?

What is the best freshman dorm, socially? I want to meet lots of new people. Living with only other engineering students doesn't really appeal to me..

Also, are there any freshman dorms available in somewhat close proximity to the athletic center?

Thanks in advance. I know I have a lot of questions (probably even more, but I can't think of them right now :/ ) Any incite you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

BUMp! !!!

Also I live in a small town in north carolina. I know the campus is in the middle of cleveland, but is it spread out quite a bit or is it more compact?

I don’t know anything about co-ops, sorry! I do know that I am an incoming freshman and living in Pierce next year, and Pierce has co-ed floors. I believe Storrs, Cutler, and Hitchcock-- the other Mistletoe dorms, all have co-ed floors.

Are all the floors on pierce coed? How do you know if you will be on one? Is the housing process like a lottery system or just first come- first serve?

Thanks jkrtist. I was looking at the campus map online and it looks like pierce and storrs are nice.

Im not sure if id rather live in a quad or the “hallway” type dorms though and so im also considering cedar

No problem! I think the 4th floors might not be coed, but i’m not sure (i think someone might have mentioned it in passing). I really like “quad” dorms… they’re unique and you get to know your neighbors! My sister has lived in hallway for the past 3 years at her college, and she is at the farthest point from the bathroom! With quads, everyone is close!

ill answer a couple questions.

if you do a co-op, yes your scholarship is still available. sometimes you will need to go to financial aid to make sure they have you doing co-op, but it should be available for 8 semesters.

secondly, no freshmen dorms are close to veale (the athletic center), however, all are close to the football / soccer field and track, and they are in the process of building a brand new athletic center on the side of campus where the freshmen dorms are. Unfortunately, it won’t be completed by the time you’re here

Your scholarship will still stand.

Yes, just pick the right dorm and floor. You can find out more on the housing website.

Any Mistletoe dorm, preferably Storrs or Hitchcock.

No. But Case is building a brand new athletic center right next to the freshman dorms. Not sure when it will be done.

Coed floors are numerous in freshman dorms. You won’t have a problem there.

In my freshman year, Mistletoe (Storrs) was the most sociable, but I imagine that changes every year as there are completely different people each year.
So there’s not really an answer to that.
Also, engineering students are the majority at Case so living with at least some of them is unavoidable especially freshman year.

Freshman dorms are located at the opposite end of campus from the athletic center.
If you have any science or math classes, you will be walking to that end of campus anyway.
I personally enjoy the fact that the campus is spread out and I get to walk every day.
