I am entering CoE this year. Two of my AP exams that I will take in May, Calc BC and Chem, will be counted for credits.

Now, the question is, I will have signed up for my classes already before AP scores come out. So how would I know if I don't need to take Calc and Chem in the first year or not?

I feel like my logic is flawed here. Please do not hesitate to correct me.

Thank you for your time.

I’m taking APs this week and the week after, but I’m pretty sure they are supposed to get the scores in Mid-June.

I think you’ll be able to gauge how well you did. I thought I bombed the Calc BC test and still got a 5.

If you wanted to see whether or not you were going to take Math 1a & Math 1b the first year, because you wanted to take Math 53 and Math 54 instead that would be one thing. If you want to take totally different classes instead, you’ll have to talk with your advisor to make sure that everything will be open.

It seems to me that you’ll probably do fairly well on your AP Tests, and that the calc and chem classes will be some of the biggest courses on campus so you shouldn’t have a problem getting in (note you may get a horrible discussion time if you’re too late).

I’d see if you could get the scores rushed, and then I would call the AP on the phone as soon as they have that option available. Berkeley should allow you to sign up for the classes without the AP Scores on CalSO (Better if you had them, though), so as long as you can figure out what you got before your date your good.
