For the Coursera or Edx certificates can I add them in College & Universitiy section where you normally add classes from community college or summer camps?
Also for the “Honors” section, if I mentioned an award in the “honors” section, do I exclude the same award that I mentioned in “honors” in the “Activity” section? How important is “honors” section? Do I need to fill them out completely? Should put all the awards that I received in “honors” section, not in the “activity” section?
I don’t think that Coursera or EDx certificates can be counted as classes. If anything, they would go in the EC section but someone else here can correct me.
Put honors in honors and activities in activities.
Put Coursera and EDx classes in activities, not in classes/grades. I could make the case that a certificate could go in Honors, I don’t think any AO would think that was necessarily wrong, because it is academic.
An honor can be both an honor and an activity if there is some type of activity that goes along with it. Examples:
-Some NHS chapters (honor) have required volunteer/community service hours (activity)
-Certificate of Attainment in Language/Seal of Biliteracy (honor) earned via something like Saturday Greek School (activity)
My daughter added them with the link to certificate in Additional Info section. If you have some exclusive award that you want the AO committee to pay attention you can put them under “Honors”. Mine had an issue due to space constraint so she folded few of her honors into the activity section itself.
