Questions regarding IGETC & 7-course breadth for UC transfer

Hi everyone, i'm an out of state student enrolling into santa monica college this coming fall. I'll be pursuing Business as a major and intend to transfer out of santa monica college on the third year. I'm having some doubts regarding the IGETC & 7-course breadth, particularly because i'm intending to transfer from santa monica college to hopefully UCBerkeley. If i find that it is unrealistic for me to do so i'll probably go for UCRiverside.

However on assist.org it states that the IGETC does not satisfy these requirement for UCB, and that on the website itself shows the seven-course breadth instead. UCR on the other hand accepts IGETC and now i'm in a dilemma on what does UCB meant by IGETC does not satisfy these requirement.

I'm also supposed to take 6 units pre-enrollment and i'm not sure if i should take the lower division major requirements first or the classes in IGETC or 7-course breadth.

Would greatly appreciate if someone could shed some light on my case, Thanks !!

Many, if not all, of the breadth fits easily into the IGETC.

Hey UCBhopeful16 thank you for the reply, is there anywhere i can find a side by side comparison of the both of them so i can start choosing my first 6 units of classes ?

Just look at assist and your schools IGETC list.
