Questions regarding pre-med/pre-dental

Hey guys, I'm a rising senior from a top public school in the south. The high school I go to is considered one of the most rigorous in the state and has been named a blue ribbon school a few years in a row. I wanted to know how competitive the pre-med/dent classes are at Rutgers.
My stats:
GPA: 3.8 uw
ACT: 29
Class rank: top 10%
I have SEVERAL leadership positions and ECs which include sports, cultural and language clubs, community service, biology TA, and student ambassador. (There are more.) I have taken college level classes for 3 years. These are not college-prep classes, but are the actually college courses one would take at a university, such as ENG110, BIO101, CL CHEM II, etc.
I would like to know what my chances of admittance are and how the pre-med classes are. Are they cutthroat and competitive? I plan on being a Psychology major. (I made the mistake of going to a ridiculously competitive school once, but I do not wish to make that mistake again. I know that you need the best grades possible for medical/dental school.)

Thanks!

BK1349, you are smart for thinking like this. Many people make the mistake of going to a competitive college and then they have a hard time getting into med school. The acceptance rate for med schools is around 40% and the key is to get a very high GPA(3.6 and up) along good MCAT scores to get in. Rutgers places a lot of students in med schools especially NJ state ones. Not sure how competitive is the Premed program at Rutgers, maybe a current student can answer this question better. Good luck!!

Bump. Anyone else?

You might need to take Bio and chem over depending what Medical school you are looking at because i think a lot do not take community college prereqs.

I’m not in community college. I am a senior at a gifted high school. The classes I take are taught at a university level but do not count towards college credit. When I enroll in Fall 2014 I will be a first-time college freshman.
