Initially, I applied to SMG as a safety but after being rejected or waitlisted from my initial top choices and after doing some research, BU has grown on me. Of my current choices, I am between Rutgers (I live in NJ), Villanova business school and BU SMG. I am not very fond of rutgers and although Villanova’s rank as an undergrad business school is higher, I’m not really comfortable with it being a Catholic school with little diversity (I’m Asian)

I’ve heard only good things about the CORE program and if I were to attend, I would look foward to the team based learning. However, I was wondering if current students can comment about the recruiting scene at SMG. Many reviews and student comments say that it fails to attract big companies and those that do come usually offer back office jobs. Other studnets, however, say that FCC is very helpful in finding internships and jobs. Besides recruiting, I was also wondering if anybody knew anything about the SMG Honor’s program, what advantages it has, and how hard it is to get in. Any other comments about SMG are also very welcome, thanks for the help.

That's weird. I feel like I just read this same question yesterday, with almost the same wording.

I am a current SMG student and I am extremely happy with the program. Our program is different from the typical business program and we come out well rounded and prepared.

As far as recruiting, the FCC prepared me to search for jobs with mock interviews, resume review, cover letter review and walk in advising available. Many companies recruit on campus, but the FCC stresses that they shouldn't be our only stop. People get the better jobs through networking. It's as simple as that. The FCC is great and can do a lot for you, but networking is key. They stress that all four years and make sure that we are very capable of finding those opportunities. They don't hand you jobs on a silver platter, but they prepare you.

I'm also Asian and I'm also very interested in SMG, after being rejected from Stern ( sad :[ ).

Although I can't really provide much information, I heard the school is very good. But their ranking has dropped from 34th to 40th in the nation. So I might consider attending Baruch instead.

rankings are kind of dumb. The difference between being ranked 34th and 40th won't make a difference when you're looking for jobs. It's not a good enough reason by itself to decide between schools.
