Questions?

Hey folks-

I'm an upcoming Junior MechE here at CMU, and I know a lot of you may be confused about random things, or worried about certain things regarding coming to college.

If you're confused or need some help, please feel free to either email me or IM me. I've been through it all, and I know it's pretty stressful- so feel free!

Email: bjb1@andrew.cmu.edu
AIM sn: DivinityMachina

Congrats to you all on getting in!

Or, if you'd rather talk to a sophomore in computer science (not that there's anything wrong with Divinity), feel free to IM me.

AIM: ASphericalCow

Both excellent choices

To add, I'm a sophomore in ECE and possibly Physics. Why don't you just post your questions here and all three of us will do our best to answer them.

Err... That kind of defeats the purpose of threads in this forum.

I actually suggest you going all around this forum answering questions and replying in each thread. I did this for about a month and we went from being behind Caltech by 500 posts to almost double their posts in 25 days.

PS: For the "softer" side of CMU you can ask me about business/econ and IS/Comp Finance to a degree.

Isn't the purpose of the thread to help incoming frosh? Whatever, sorry to hijack! :)

Haha, no worries- I'm more offering along the lines of personal, live help to anyone that may have a load of questions they want to ask at one time.

fool, I'm a physics major and I've been going over course catalog and trying to put together my schedule for my years at cmu. I noticed that we have to take 2 advanced mechanics courses. I was wondering if there was any way I can replace those two courses with advanced quantum mechanics courses. I'm interested in theoretical physics so I think the two advanced quantum mechanics courses would be better for me. Is there any way that I can make this happen? I'd be interested in finding out any info you may have pertaining to the two advanced mechanics courses that are required for the BS as well.

I advise e-mailing Kunal Ghosh. He knows all when it comes to physics scheduling. He'll schedule your life for you. I'm sure if you show interest and explain your reasoning, you will be able to do as you please.
