What are the political leanings of the student body? How is Minneapolis as a city? How are the economics and psychology departments?

If I recall correctly, the student body leans a little left, however since it is a large school, you will be able to find people on both sides of the spectrum. Minneapolis/St Paul are nice citites, there are several areas which have relativly high crime rates, but nothing like the bad areas of say Chicago. Minneapolis is second only to NYC in theatre seats per capita. I can't really say much about those two departments, but the Carlson School is one of the best B Schools in the Midwest, and the best in MN.

With regards to undergrad programs, carlson is fairly respected, about as much as its MBA program which is around 19, though its undergrad ranking is higher, most of the top 25 schools do not offer business specific programs.. Psychology is also a solid undergrad program, very research oriented. The grad school for psych is among the tops in the country and is one of the most well known and respected professional shcools within the university, even more so than say a carlson or med school. So in short, both programs are very strong overall. The twin cities are pretty moderate as is the campus, with a slight dem leaning, but moderate.

Minneapolis is a great city, plenty to do around here, MOA and other attractions. Winter is a little cold... The Twin Cities have become progressively more pretty, if my memory serves me correctly...
