Questions!

So, I visited Penn State this past weekend and they gave me a pamphlet stating the middle 50% of scores, yadda yadda yadda....but when I read U.S. News & World Report, PSU reported to have their SAT range between 1090 and I believe it was 1250. (not out of 2400 of course) Is this true?

Also, if you would like to be considered for the summer session, what is possibly the lowest GPA that they would allow in? And is the communications college as competitive to get into as Smeal?

It is true that that is the middle 50% for SAT scores. I went to a Penn State meeting with an admissions counselor at my high school. As for Summer session, if you apply for summer session, your chances greatly increase. The middle 50% of GPA is 3.5-3.9 if I am not mistaken. Therefore, for summer session i am sure anything from a 3.3 and up is probably good as long as you SATs are higher for a lower GPA. As for communcations, it is one of the most popular majors and one of the easiest to get into.

if you have a lower GPA, how high of SAT's are we talking to get into summer?

For summer, maybe the top 2-3 yellow dots or so on the chart would get you in summer. That's just my estimate.

What are the dates of the summer session?

Summer 2009 Calendar

Incoming freshmans will do the second summer session.

would a 3.52 get into summer? i think that's a bit too low for fall, right?

Re: the SAT numbers, the admissions page lists the UP range as 1740-1980 and the branch campuses at 1470-1710. It would make sense that the USNWR included the whole UP system. (Where do the people with a 1730 end up ;)?)
Middle 50% GPA & SAT Range - Penn State Undergraduate Admissions

not really. despite the middle 50%, the average GPA is a 3.53

oh well then i guess if i applied for summer i'll probably get in there with a 3.5 then?
