Questions?

Hi everybody! I just wanted to let you know that I'd be happy to answer any questions I can about applying, etc. I applied to five schools last year, and my results were as follows:

Exeter: Accepted
Loomis Chaffe: Accepted
Andover, Choate, Deerfield: Waitlisted

I can also answer your questions about how the financial aid programs are at Loomis and Exeter.

FYI: I'm going to Exeter, in case you were wondering.

What were your stats and what grade were you applying to for Exeter. Thank You

I was applying for 10th grade. I had a 99th percentile overall on my SSAT’s, despite a low math score (I did really well on reading) I had mostly A’s with some B’s, and plenty of extra- curriculars, though NO athletics. I needed plenty of financial aid.

Wow we have the exact same testing/FA stats  congrats on your acceptance! I was accepted at Exeter and waitlisted at Andover too, but I’m going to choate. :D

Did you have any unique hooks?

And what was your exact SSAT score? because the percentiles of Kaplan and PR are confusing me, they say that 55/60 is an 800. Is that true?

May I please get some tips about gettin into those schools?

CCer999-- My “Hooks” are being a fairly experienced actor, violinist, and tenor. Exeter needed Tenors, so…

lindha-- How far are you into applying? Are you looking at specific schools?

In general, bulk up on extra curriculars next year-- but maintain good grades! (Find the balance that works for you.)

Do well in your interview. That’s important. Don’t act too “cool,” but try instead to be enthusiastic about what you say. Let me know how far you are into the process, and I can give you some more relevant info.

I’d also be happy to help so feel free to ask questions here or PM me. I applied to two schools and the results are as follows:
Phillips Academy, Andover: accepted
Phillips Exeter Academy: accepted

I will be attending Andover as a new freshman.

Was it tough deciding over Exeter/Andover or did you like one better and why?

Hey! If you guys have any questions you can PM me too.
Accepted: Exeter, Groton, Milton
Waitlisted: Choate, Deerfield, Hotchkiss
Rejected: SPS, Andover

I’m going to Exeter as a freshman.

2010 hopeful, I had a very tough time until revisit day in the Spring. When you visit and get to spend the day with everyone, it really will become so clear which feels right to you.
I chose Andover because in my opinion, it’s an equally good school, but the kids at Andover were just having so much fun. They all genuinely LOVED being there. Exeter of course is a great school too, but when I visited, everyone seemed really stressed, and didn’t jump to say they loved it by any means. I just felt a much more rigid and negative energy while I was there, whereas Andover was so positive in every way.

Just my experiences.

ApplicationVet I’m actually filling out my application and I’m looking at Deerfields. Choate, but I dont know which one to choose between Andover and SPS.
I’m doin my essays presently but I just so stuck!!

ApplicationVet I’m applyin to DA, CHOATE, ANDOVER or SPS(because idk which one to choose between them.)
I’m actually fillin out application and workin on my essay which I dont find quite interestin…
I’m an A+ student but what kind of extra curriculars u mean?
What school r u attendin?

OUFS I send it twice I was NOT paying attention!!!=)

What are your interests? I don’t know SPS, but Andover is generally thought of as the school for writing and the humanities. (Not that their Science isn’t great.)

how is loomis’s international FA? i heard that they had an FA waitlist this year, so that wasn’t assuring at ALL. :(

I’m interested in Writing and Humanities…I think Andover will do thanks
