1) Financial aid

One of the Part 1 app questions asks if you are applying for financial aid.
Does this mean from scholarship companies not related to Penn?
Will answering yes to this question hurt you at all in admissions?

2) Siblings
When it says How many children in your family, does that mean including yourself?

Sorry if these seem silly.

A cursory glace at Penn's admissions will tell you they are need blind. What do you think that means?

No it doesn't mean you include yourself.

Okay, the haughty attitude really isn't necessary.

I know Penn is need-blind. That's why I didn't understand why they'd be asking if you're applying for financial aid.

And I know what a sibling is. But why isn't the question, how many siblings do you have? The question is how many children are in your family. Even my parents weren't sure what they meant.

It gives the reason for why they are asking for fin aid on the app (I have seen it on the paper...it is most likely on the online version as well). The reason is so that they can mail you financial aid papers. All colleges will ask you that.

It wasn't a haughty attitude. It was more of a "Why don't you do simple research" attitude. There is a key difference.

And yes, it is indeed on the online application (just below the checkbox):

If the answer is yes, a financial aid packet of forms and information will be mailed to you.

Yeah, okay. Because your original reply wasn't at all condescending. 'Look up sibling in the dictionary.' Very helpful.

And gimme a break, I was asking a couple of questions. I know Penn is need-blind, and I also know what a sibling is.

Be nice, people. Gah mahras, you think you'll get anywhere in life with such attitude? Be considerate.

I included myself. I don't think it really matters.

I did update that post once I realized that you said children not siblings. Once you submit the app the fin aid papers should come in ~5 business days. On the letter it says that they would prefer to send you the decisions AND the fin aid (because remember that you can get out of the commitment if you can't pay even with the aid). Thats why they post it.
