UVA's deadline is January 2... this means I have until January 2, 11:59 PM EST to hit the submit button, correct?

or do i have to have it submitted BEFORE January 2? like January 1, 11:59?

I think its jan 1st but dude dont delay this. Try to send it as fast as possible. I think that admissions officers (not saying for 100% sure) do get ****ed off or are kind of irritated if you send it in at the very last second.. it shows that you dont that you procrastintae.

No Gyros...Dean J put a post in her admissions blog http://uvaapplication.blogspot.com/ saying that the time the app is submitted isn't even noted on the application.

She also said when she was talking to other people, like this student actually submitted his application late and was now like an officer at his university (something along those lines).

Don't worry about submitting it on Dec. 31st or Dec 1st. it doesn't matter because they have no idea at what time you submit it.

As to answer your question, according to Dean J's blog you MUST submit it by 11:59 PM on Jan 1st but she reccommends submitting it earlier just in case your comp crashes at 11:59 PM. Read the post to make sure.
Best of luck!

try not to submit at the last second. possibility of servers lagging and internet crashing goes up drastically on 11:59 on Jan 2.
there's really no reason to submit it on the last second anyways.

So is it 11:59 on the 1st or 2nd? I mean I'm not doing it tomorrow but that is misleading if it's supposed to be 11:59 tonight when all the deadlines say the 2nd and postmark deadline is usually the same as the online deadline.

the deadline is 11:59 tonight, jan 1...the mail would be the same, other than the post offices dont deliver at 11:59

That doesn't make any sense. Hypothetically, if the postal office was open tomorrow, you could get your application postmarked tomorrow. The post office stamps your application when they get it, postmarking it. If you just go in before the post office closes and give it to them, or put it in the mailbox before the mailman picks it up, it will be postmarked that day.

So if you can mail it tomorrow, why can't you submit it online?

yeah I don't get it calizoso...I guess to be safe everyone should plan on submitting it tonight at the latest.

well i just submitted my app around 10:30 my 2 250 word essays are decent but my 1 500 word essay sucks...

lesson for future: do not wait until the day an application is due to do the essay

The post offices are closed today because it's a national day of mouring (for President Ford), so the deadline is extended.

"The post offices are closed today because it's a national day of mouring (for President Ford), so the deadline is extended."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Why didn't I know this before I submitted my application? I could have made my essays so much better... cries

oh well

Oh Dat, would they have been that much better?

Relax, you're fine.

Better to be DONE!!! Yea!!!

all we can do now is cross our fingers and hope that we get in, lol, btw, is it that much harder for an out-of-state applicant to be accepted? cuz only 29% of UVA kids are out of state

i can answer that question for you smangin... YES it is that much harder for out of staters to get accepted to UVA...

i remember hearing before that applying to UVA out of state is like applying to an Ivy... how accurate that is i don't know... i just know that it is a lot harder for out of state kids

2/3 of admittees are in-state (not sure of exact ratio, but its close). its a state mandated quota. so its MUCH harder for out of staters.

good luck

2/3 of the student body must be from Virginia, per the state mandate. The first year class doesn't usually have a strict 2/3 : 1/3 ratio.

thanks for the replies, now i'm extremeley nervous :) *crosses fingers tighter
