Quick assistances are needed!!! Thank you

Hi, everyone...
Big Problem...
My younger brother is in his junior year and he has been doing quite all right at school except in his AP Stat class. Last semester, he got a DDDDDD....D...I was quite frustrated with it but, he promised me that he will get a good grade, which we agreed upon as at least a B...

So, a progress report comes out...and he currently carries a CCCCCCCC...no, not good...so, my brother and I have been talking..and arguing for about a week...and we came to the point ...whether to drop that AP Stat or not...

please give us some advice...im frustrated that I cannot be a good brother...we have been talking about this whole dropping issue for a week and he has to make a decision very soon...

the colleges he is looking at are UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and CSULB...

Thank you,

iluvschool

I don't think dropping a class now would be a good idea.

If he keeps the class and continues to improve his grades, he demonstrates that he is actively working to overcome "obstacles"; if he drops it, it looks more like "I don't want to challenge myself by taking classes out of my comfort zone".

Plus, sometimes the policy is that if you drop the class beyond a certain date, it will be an F. That's how my school works. Check on that before you do it.

Thank you guys...

I could not fall asleep until four AM this morning...because I did not want to give my brother a wrong advice...any more input would be appreciated...

Maybe you can tutor him a bit? It would help you as well in college by your reviewing the concepts.

any more input???

he's basically saying that ...if he dropped his stat class, he would be able to get straight A's

but with the stat class, because he had to spent so much effort on that class, he would not be able to achieve a straight A's with the rest of his classes...

sigh...big dilemma...
