School is very affluent and sends most of top 5% class to ivies or comparable schools (also have previously posted this at Dartmouth's forum but just recently fell in love w/ Brown's relatively "open" curriculum"

I’d say you have a really good chance, everything here looks about right for Brown, especially ED. Just make sure you have really good essays and I would say that you’re in.
Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/739609-barack-obama-says-chance-me-yale-scea.html

Bumpppppppp

I have to say, your C grade is gonna hurt you some. But your SCORES are very good! Brown is not a super selective school, so I would imagine that they have more leeway when it comes to letting go things like one bad grade… I think you are IN. Good EC’s. Brown would have to be pretty arrogant to not accept you if you do ED. GOOD LUCK!

If Brown is your first choice and you won’t mind giving up the opportunity to go to any other colleges, then I would say apply ED. I think your stats make you have a great shot at Brown.

Your SAT scores are great, as well as your extracurricular activities. The karate award seems prestigious, and I’m sure that will factor well… The C may or may not make much of a big difference, but if you show that you really improved (which you have), then I’m sure that they can let it slide. You seem to be an adequate match, but, just like everyone else here, my opinion is of course just an opinion. In either case, best of luck!

I think you have a decent shot of getting into Brown. Unless I’m mistaken, it’s one of the easier Ivys to get into. I think you’re there, but still an iffy, so just make sure you have a great essay and recom. letters and you should be good to go. Anything goes with Ivy league schools though, so be prepared.

Excellent SAT scores & SAT IIs, but see if you can take 1 or 2 SAT IIs in subjects other than Math & Science b/c colleges often look for well-rounded applicants. Tough course curriculum & good ECs, however in your app be more specific about the length of time or number of years you did each activity–long term dedication towards a few ECs is in one sense better than short term involvement in many ECs.

I’d say you would be in either ED or RD.

brown looks less at gpa and more at people who stand out.
your test scores are amazing, just make sure your essays are unreal.

You have a pretty good chance at getting into Brown. The upward trend and your EC leadership positions should help you, and your test scores are quite good as well. Weigh the benefits of applying ED versus RD- not getting to apply elsewhere and not being able to “shop” for financial aid are two disadvantages to applying ED that you should consider- but ED or RD, you stand a fair chance at getting in.

Ya you are definately looking good. Your test scores are great and your GPA is about average for Brown. Additionally, your ECs are basically decent for Brown. So ya, you are pritty much in i think.

well im thinking my 35 ACT is more impressive than my 2270 but thanks (shameless bump)

You have an excellent profile. Much better than mine XD. It looks like you have a very good chance at Brown. I don’t think the grade in Spanish will make much difference since you said that your grades went through a big upward trend.

Good luck!

I think you are in great shape for Brown, although it is hard to tell because they are known to be a very picky school.

good luck–chance back please!
