QUICK!!! chance-at-a-glance.

Im going to make this as quick and painless as possible:

sat: 2190 (780C 670M 740W)
act: 32
black, female, southern state, rural public school
rank: 1/323, 4.1?? (most demanding course load)
decent EC's w/ leadership pos.
3 year research project (ISEF, some conferences)
i speak 3.5 languages (mandarin = .5)
nat'l merit semifinalist

schools:
Yale EA
columbia
Wash U (st.l)
U Wash (seattle)
tufts
johns hopkins
(some safties)

what are my chances w/ these SAT's???

If you don't get in everywhere, I'd be surprised. Good luck!

SATs are a bit low, hope that AA kicks in for you.

valedictorian URM with high test scores...why do you even bother to post on here...you're depressing those of us who are screwed over by Aff Action

But anyway, you have excellent chances and I too would be surprised if you were rejected from any school.

In at all. Affirmative action for the win.

ok yea, AA is on ur side, lets move on

I wouldn't say in for the ivies though. I'd say moderate -> high reach still just because they're like that for everyone

AA is different, with a near 2200 SAT and VALEDICTORIAN for a BLACK FEMALE, ivies look like a short step away.

I know, but I even doubt THAT much power of AA

black valedictorians are rare (no offense), that alone would draw the college's attention, plus a decent 2200, decent ECs, and national merit semi, very good chance. 40-50%

Yeah you're in everywhere because you're black.

Death to Affirmative Action!!!

You will end up being accepted to places you didn't even apply to. :P

i agree with gryffon, to hell with AA

This isn't the place for a debate on AA, but AA should be based on income level (I feel).

In response to your insensitive post Evil Dictator, you are evil because you are asian.

good one....-_-

makes me wish i was a URM...sigh

what happens if you lie about your race? We are all from africa, right?
Will they change it back to black instead of african-american?

dude good question. what if i was born in africa but immigrated to america but i was white. would that mean i can check african american?

What about a black person from Canada? What if your aunt was a MAN? 14086, it must be tough not being a URM, but you must fight onwards. Let freedom ring!
